Pep Guardiola has made it clear that Manchester City will be his last club before he retires from football.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension until 2027 last month but the Premier League champions have struggled to make an impact and he admits it will be difficult for his side to retain the title this season.

The Spanish boss has recently stated that he will coach the Etihad Stadium team as his last club, with no plans to take up international duties, in order to spend his free time playing golf as he wishes.

“I will not coach another team, I am not talking about the long-term future, but what I will not do is leave Manchester City to do the same job in another country,” Guardiola told Spanish chef Dani Garcia in an exclusive interview.

“And I will stop. I want to play golf, but I can’t do it unless I leave the team. And I think it would be good for me to stop coaching.”

“I’m young, and when I stop, there are many things I want to do.”

“One of them is to learn French, devote my free time to myself so I can play golf, and start learning simple cooking.”

The 53-year-old added: “No one can comfort the loneliness of a football manager. And You have people around you, but bad decisions hurt you in defeat. You feel alone.”

“You may have friends around you, but when you close your bedroom door and turn off the lights, there is no comfort.”

“One of the best medicines I have is the Augusta Masters, or the majors, coming up on Thursday to Sunday, and I’m preparing for my home games here in Tasse (Guardiola’s Spanish restaurant in Manchester).”
